I wrote my first book in 1995, the Study Guide for Richard Lipsey’s iconic textbook, Positive Economics. More recently I have written or updated around 15 guidebooks for North America’s leading travel guide publisher, Frommer’s. My Frommer’s Tuscany and Umbria With Your Family was judged Best Guidebook 2008 at the ENIT Travel Writing Awards. I have also written multiple editions of Florence & Tuscany Day by Day, and co-authored Frommer’s Italy,  Frommer’s LondonFrommer’s England & the Best of Wales, and others. My guides have appeared in a number of formats, including as eBooks (of course), as interactive iPad guides, and as white-label content across the Web.

As a result, I have been quoted as a travel expert in publications as diverse as Tesco MagazineIl TirrenoGadling and the Bookseller.

I have also worked with DK Travel Guides and contributed a number of chapters to 2005: Blogged and The 2007 Blog Digest. New in 2013, I created, publish and am co-author on a series of money-saving guides for anyone travelling with a smartphone, The Smart Phone Traveller’s Guides to….

I’ve also built the content and contextual material for several location-aware iOS apps. I had the pleasure of working with the smart folk at Never Odd Or Even LLP during 2009 and 2010, developing compelling written and photographic content for their Instant Cities travel apps. My first iPhone app with them, Instant Florence, was released in November 2009, and was described as “a very well written guide to just about everything you’d want to see,” by The FlorentineInstant Turin followed in December, and I commissioned further additions to their series during 2010. I also worked with startup London Smartphone on an app designed to help Londoners with an urgent need. It went on sale at the App Store just before Christmas 2009 and remained in the top 50 travel apps for several months.
